Fishing in Qatar

Fishing is the most popular hobbies and movements in Qatar actually hunting explored before discover the oil. Fisherman is hunting in the sea. For instance, Al-Wakrah ,Seline and Khor Al Edaid which are the famous places for fishing in Qatar. However, The Qatar’s government puts some rules and regulations to protect the fisherman from outside dangerous and to increase of marine resources.  People still need the sea food to provide of self-sufficiency in food .They could buy fishes from fish factories (Al-Chaprh) ,nevertheless ,Qatar people prefer entering in the sea ,caching the perfect place for hunting and preparing the instruments  for fishing  better than Buying the fish from Al-Chaprh because the  price of fish is rise depending on the type and source of fish. Hunting the fish usually is inherited from ancient until this decade and Qatari still adhere to the profession of fish, beside People often benefit from fish in the nutritional and economic especially nowadays most of people take what they want of the fish to fill their needs ,and they offer the rest for sale to raise the level of income. Fishing needs unique tool and the perfect seasons to collect the fish.

        One of the Qatari people who used his talent for a material needs is, Fisherman Abdulaziz Al-Malki . He is always fishing in the Khor City. Al-Malki said that he had a love of fishing from an early age, but he did not practice this hobby only after he became twenty years old. Al-Malki also said that the main reason that made him exercise this talent is the high prices of fish of various kinds. He believes that the current price of fish is reasonable and confirms that they did not reach this level before. And the high prices of fish related to increase the salaries of citizens. He added that the fishing earned him the love of adventure and experience through using of various tools for fishing. In this regard, he said that the tools used in fishing back to the past (time of grandparents).  Examples of these tools are;   fishing nets and pistol fishing (gun). Where he gave an explanation of these tools, the first tool (Fishing Nets) made of cotton and nylon yarns that are linked together in a grid ( as network ).

         According to Al-Malki's comments; these nets are installed in the sea in the form of a letter U, and the fish that are caught by this tool are all kinds, especially Alsafi , Albedh ,Algrgofan ,Alrbeb and Alynm. In addition, he provided a detailed explanation of the second tool (pistol or gun fishing). This pistol to catch fish by diving into the depth to find fish and then firing the gun on the body of fish .                .                                                                                        

        Another Qatari fisherman is Mohamed Bin Ali. He always is fishing in the Al-Wakrah city. He is the fisherman who benefited from his love of the sea and fishing in order to self reliance for the marine food and also benefit from the sale of fish to be a second source of monthly income. He used other tools for fishing. For example, Gargoors and Electronic device .                                                                                  

         According to Bin Ali ; the first tool (Gargoors) are like the iron wires in the form of  a cage where the fisherman put pieces of  bread or small fish to be food to attract the big fish into the cage such as : Hamor , Alshree and Fasker. He added that the second tool (Electronic device) is a modern technology that used to search for the places of fish. Also, he said that this tool is easy to use and find the fish very quickly. At the end of his speech , he assumes that this tool is the best for catching a large number of fish that will bring a great profit in the business of selling fish.                                     

        

In conclusion, Qatar has a best beaches and places where the fisherman could be fishing and exercising his avocation. To safeguard fishermen from dangers of the sea the Qatar government presents some laws to care for the safety of persons and preserve of marine resources. Fishermen still follow the old ways of fishing as well as they are using the modern technologies. The features of modern technologies are catching a large quantity of fish, processing easily for the fisherman, do not need much effort and taking a short time in fishing which helps to get amount of fish.
